Reasons for doing the bike ride

Purely for my other half Clare, who I have seen first hand, suffer mentally and physically with breast cancer, enduring operations, prolonged treatments of chemo, radiotherapy and endless medicines - who through it all has kept smiling and never once complained .... riding 900 miles is nothing in comparison.

Most memorable cycling moment

"Finishing my first 100 mile sportive."

Training secrets

Preparation, kit and the right fitting bike are essential. Food and drink intake are also important - we won't be riding 900 miles on Evian! Just getting out on the road - great stress reliever and keeps the weight off - most of the time.....!!

What will be on your i-pod for the bike ride

Don't use one - too dangerous on public roads.

How will you celebrate when you reach John O’Groats?

Cracking open a bottle of Moet!!
