Reasons for doing the bike ride
Something to do with being 40! But wanting to do more than just give money.
Most memorable cycling moment
Completing the Etape Du Tour in July 2000 (where mere amateurs can ride a mountain stage of the Tour De France) which finished at the top of Mount Ventoux. I was 1 of only 1,000 of 7,000 starters who finished the full route due to a hail/thunder storm at the top of the mountain. The organisers closed the road and called in the French Red Cross after I had started my ascent and therefore had to finish! It made the front page of the French national newspapers due to the severity of the weather in July. It was my best and worst day on a bike where I realised how mortal one is!
